WI MICKLEY MICKLEY'S members laughed and chuckled their way through the evening at the tales and exploits described by speaker Keith Anthony. Charabanc outings and annual chapel ones (by steam train, to the delight of the children) took place to popular Welsh coastal resorts. He was well thanked by Mrs Tiltman for his Stories of Wales.
Kathleen Jones, WIA, joined the group to discuss the serious question of their falling numbers, and how this affects the committee, and the institute as a whole. A ballot will be taken to decide this issue at the AGM next month. She also brought the good news of the opening of a new WI this time in more northern Northumberland, at Widdrington Station. Discussions then ranged over past and future events, eg the recent nostalgic summer trip to Beamish Museum where the weather allowed members to really enjoy its country setting. Also, names were taken for the Alnwick Council meeting, and County Day at Morpeth. The meeting ended with the raffle, with Mrs Wilkin and Mrs Coulson as winners, and the competition of a Welsh emblem, which Mrs Pattinson won.See the full content of this document
