Gordon Brown has done the right thing in axing 100,000 civil servants' jobs, there are too many, and the money being paid to civil servants will be used to fund health, education and law and order.
As the Chancellor pointed out, many of the civil servants will get a job, there are 600,000 vacancies in the public sector, there are plenty of jobs to go around. It is utter nonsense for the unions to contemplate calling a strike over the issue. Mr Brown is to be applauded for his action.
