A NORTH East sailing stalwart has received royal recognition for his long service to the sport Roy Twelves, President of Sunderland Yacht Club, was among 40 winners presented with their Royal Yachting Association Awards by the Princess Royal at a ceremony in London. Twelves, from Darras Hall, Ponteland, received a Lifetime Commitment Award - one of the highest RYA awards given to volunteers - for more than 40 years dedicated to the club.
