A TYNESIDE conductor who has almost single-handedly brought new life to songs from the classic MGM film musicals will showcase his pioneering project in a home-town concert tomorrow night.

After studying at Newcastle College in the late 1980s, Gateshead- born John Wilson went to London's Royal College of Music and, by the time he'd graduated in 1995, had won all the major conducting prizes, as well as the coveted Tagore Gold Medal for most outstanding student.
