THE street where three women were gunned down by crazed taxi driver Michael Atherton was returning to normal today. A police cordon, which had sealed off Greenside Avenue in Horden, County Durham, since the carnage shortly before midnight on New Year's Day, has been lifted.

And friends took the opportunity to lay floral tributes in front of the house - Number 9 - where Atherton, 42, shot his partner Susan McGoldrick, 47, her sister Alison Turnbull, 44, and her niece Tanya Turnbull, 24, before turning the gun on himself.
