Summary
LAST Wednesday in my surgery I saw Carol. Until five years ago she was a happy 55-year-old. She and her husband had brought up their children and they were settling down to a peaceful life and early retirement. That was until, one summer's evening, their eldest daughter was knocked down and killed by a drink driver. Now Carol looks after a six-year-old grandaughter who was left without her mummy.
