THE world's biggest wind turbine blades will be made in the North East, the Government announced as it unveiled a multi-million pound investment in the industry. Energy and Climate Secretary Ed Miliband said grants will be given to Clipper Windpower, which covers Tees Valley, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham and two other offshore wind energy companies, which will help create jobs. The minister said pounds 4.4m will be given to Clipper to develop their first prototype 70-metre blade for a project to build the largest wind turbines in the world.
