THREE care homes and a centre for disabled people are to close after council chiefs gave the go-ahead to controversial plans.

As previously reported in the Chronicle, residents, their families and staff members have been protesting against the closures of Meadway House in Forest Hall, Annitsford House in Annitsford and Dorset House in Wallsend.
