This wildlife haven has been operating for 34 years and employs 25 full-time, part-time and casual staff. It is both a conservation area and a tourist attraction visited by tens of thousands of people each year. Judges noted that the centre had switched to low energy light bulbs, installed solar panels to light and heat a hut in the car park and had switched to a green electricity supplier. Staff have been encouraged to switch off equipment when not in use and a reedbed filtration system has been installed to handle run off from a nearby industrial estate.See the full content of this document
