Should We Close Middle Shools?

Summary


The switch from a three-tier to a two-tier system of education in outer-west Newcastle means Chapel House, Chapel Park and Throckley Middle Schools will close, despite around 3,000 objections. Liberal Democrat councillors promised a review and parents hoped this would mean a return to the three-tier system in 2006. Coun Nick Cott, executive member for education and training, explains to Education Reporter Amanda Crook the reasons for sticking to the original decision, while parent Linda Wilson voices her opposition.

WE are deeply disappointed it has not been possible to hold a ballot in the outer-west concerning the move from the three-tier to the two-tier system.
