Ship's Ordeal, in and Out of Dock

Summary

This listing ship limped into the Tyne on November, 28, 1986, at the end of a five-day ordeal at sea after what looks like her deck cargo of wood had shifted.

But the ordeal of the crew of the Panamanian-registered Fione was not over, for Customs officials promptly placed her under arrest. The 4,000-ton ship had tied up at the Riverside Quay in South Shields when officials boarded her and she was arrested on a warrant issued by the High Court on behalf of the Admiralty.
