An absent pub-owner may be fined thousands of pounds and face jail if staff are caught pulling pints.

Police have warned the unnamed owner of The British Lion, in Carlisle Street, Felling, that any member of staff serving alcohol will now breach licensing laws. He or she could face a maximum penalty of a pounds 2,500 and six months' imprisonment.
