THE BLACKOUT, THE SAGE GATESHEAD ONLY six weeks have passed since The Blackout's last stint in Newcastle, supporting My Chemical Romance, but return they did for their solo date at Northumbria University. They blasted off their set with new track Ambition is Critical, fresh off new album Hope.

Something about The Blackout is widely appealing, and the crowd was a healthy mix of older rock lovers, scene kids, young 'uns and pretty girls - united by their desire to have a good time with the Welshmen. For a young man in his twenties, Sean Smith has extraordinary stage presence, which reeled the crowd in from the off.
