Anyone who visited the Centre for Life on the opening weekend of Newcastle Science Fest 2009 may have been surprised to witness fountains of diet coke reaching high into the air. Fizzy drinks are carbonated, which means that a lot of carbon dioxide gas is forced into the drink under pressure.
