Summary
More than pounds 80m of public sector fraud and overpayments have been detected in the past two years, according to a new report.
The 2002/03 National Fraud Initiative, carried out by the Audit Commission, exposed more than 260 NHS employees involved in housing benefit fraud, and led to the dismissal or resignation of 121 public sector employees. There were also 365 successful prosecutions and the recovery of 28 council properties.See the full content of this document
