Pets packed out the pews in a tiny Tyneside church to watch the first ever animal blessing service.

More than 30 devout dogs and two pious pussycats sat and watched as the Reverend Ron Ferguson led the service, at St Thomas' Church, in Eighton Banks, Gateshead.
