Summary
It's 20 years since the buses were deregulated, and in that time the numbers of North East passengers have declined by 58.7% and fares have risen by 40%. Earlier in the week, Stagecoach drivers staged a one-day strike to protest at the phased pay deal that is on the table, while other Stagecoach drivers were brought in from outside the region to maintain some sort of service.
