A RETIRED teacher will mark a school"s centenary with a book chronicling its history. Elizabeth Hawkins is appealing for past pupils and tutors to get in touch with their memories of Tanfield School, in Tanfield Lea, County Durham, to help her.The 64-year-old says the Tanfield, called Stanley Grammar School in the 1950s and before that Alderman Wood School, will make ample material for the book Tanfield: 100 and Not Out, which she hopes to have published before celebrations in October 2012.
"Looking back remains something that is pleasurable and for most people school was one of the happiest times of their lives," said Mrs Hawkins, who studied at the school and taught English there until 2005.See the full content of this document
