Summary
THE chairman of one of the North East's biggest technology companies and a veteran of a series of military peacekeeping missions are just two of five people to be appointed Deputy Lieutenants of Tyne and Wear. Chair of the Northern Rock Foundation Alastair Balls, Bosnia and Iraq veteran Lieutenant General Robin Brims, Paul Callaghan of North Eastbased Leighton Group, former commander of 150 Transport Regiment Colonel Varn Jassal and Newcastle University's noted energy and engineering expert Professor Paul Younger have all been appointed Deputy Lieutenants.
