In response to Peter Young's article (Chronicle, March 15) headlined Facing Homes Battle, I, along with many others, sacrificed our homes for the future of Scotswood and its remaining community. All the empty spaces created for re-development have been someone's heartache.

This hold-up is mainly down to landlords who continue to put vulnerable people in houses which are in areas of demolition. Greed incites them to force tenants to remain in streets with empty boarded-up houses in partly demolished streets overrun with vermin.
