LEADING doctors in the North East have condemned backdoor creeping privatisation of the NHS. These progressive looking medics are doing a great service to the people of the area by bravely speaking out on this important issue.
But first to set alarm bells ringing, in July 1989, was a small body called 'The People's Action for Health' who climbed the roof of the Porter's Lodge, Newcastle General Hospital (which was up for sale) in protest at the managers of the General, Freeman and St Nicholas hospitals threat- ening to "opt-out" of regional health authority control.See the full content of this document
