PROPOSALS to halve sentences of offenders that plead guilty early were a key part of the Justice Secretary's plans to reform the criminal justice system, announced yesterday.
Other changes include slashing the country's pounds 2.2 billion- a-year legal aid budget, by pounds 350 million, and taking a tougher stance on knife-crime, which would see a compulsory jail term of at least six months, with or without a fine, for anyone over 18 who threatens someone with a knife.See the full content of this document
