Summary
A story in the Chronicle mentioned a broken bench which Newcastle councillors considered a danger to children. By the following afternoon, the bench had disappeared. Is this swift response down to councillor or Press power? What if an ordinary member of the public were to highlight a far more dangerous situation nearby?
Nearby a bollard, pictured, stands on a traffic island near the bottom of Stanhope Street, where it is regularly struck by traffic. Since it has been like this for over a year, I conclude the council is waiting until a vehicle sends it flying into the path of a vehicle coming the other way, causing a serious accident, before they act.See the full content of this document
