A FORMER councillor and serving fireman has been found not guilty of doing a 'monkey impression' towards an Asian shopkeeper. Jurors took less than an hour to acquit Iain McElhone of racially- aggravated harassment after a two-day trial at Newcastle Crown Court.
Mr McElhone, a former councillor on the now disbanded Derwentside District Council in County Durham, collapsed in the dock as the verdict was announced.See the full content of this document
