A STRICKEN river plunge victim was pulled to safety by rescuers, who were today hailed as heroes.
Two rowers, a passer-by and an offduty police officer all took part in the rescue mission to save a 45-year-old who had been out drinking in Durham when he fell from the river bank into the water. The rowers, Sgt Ian Dickinson, who is a scout leader and was on a canoeing exercise with a group of youngsters, and a parent of a scout, all raced to his rescue.See the full content of this document
