A coroner and senior cop have both voiced alarm over the rising number of people overdosing on heroin in the North East.

Their concerns were raised at a Morpeth inquest into the death of a merchant seaman who collapsed on board an oil rig rescue and recovery vessel in the North Sea, in March last year.
