NEWCASTLE City Council report conclusions: The introduction of a Universal Credit will replace a range of mean tested benefits which will impact on 28,000 people in Newcastle.

A more restrictive test of Disability Living Allowance will affect 9,720 people from 2013 with the possibility that 3,300 disabled people could lose their entitlement to benefits. There are 27,700 families in Newcastle receiving Tax Credits who can expect an average cut of pounds 2,000 a year.
