Two RSPCA inspectors have won special awards after helping to bring to court a Tyneside couple who kept 11 cats in squalid conditions.

Inspector Lyndsey Avery has been awarded a certificate of merit and fellow inspector Sue Craig a chief officer's commendation for high standard of their work in prosecuting James and Lynn Geary.
