THE term amyloidosis is a generic term used for a group of diseases where an abnormal protein, called amyloid, is produced.

AL amyloidosis is caused by a bone marrow disorder, in which an abnormal protein, usually produced by bone marrow, deposits and accumulates in the organs of the body.
