Radio Station Is Broadcasting a New Year Wish ; Spice Fm Registers for Chronicle's Funding Campaign
A RADIO station aimed at minority communities on Tyneside is in a bit of a spin over our latest campaign. Spice FM, based in Newcastle's West End, are the only community radio station of its kind between Leeds and Glasgow. They were given full-time airtime after being granted a five-year community radio licence by Ofcom in 2008.
A SCHOOL will stay shut on Tuesday due to burst water pipes. The incident happened at South Wellfield First School, in Otterburn Avenue, Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, yesterday.

FAMILIES on a Tyneside estate breathed a sigh of relief after teen yob Cally McDougall was evicted from her home. The 18-year-old attracted a catalogue of complaints from people in Chirton Hill Drive, Chirton, North Shields.
FAMILIES will find out next week if plans to build new houses on a greenfield site will get the go-ahead. The scheme, drawn up by Bellway Homes, involves building 79 properties on the former Northern Electric Sports Ground, at Kings Road South, Wallsend.
