Call-Up has Dan Bouncing ; Trampolinist Facing Best in the World
TRAMPOLINIST Daniel Fawcett has bounced his way into the Great Britain squad for the World Age Group Championships in St Petersburg in November. The call-up comes just weeks after the 14-year-old from South Shields became under-15 age group national champion at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena. It is the latest boost to a fledgling trampolining career which started when Fawcett was just nine.
A SUPERB run in the first of this season's EASB Premier Junior Tour events saw Walkerville snooker ace Stephen Craigie top his group in the round-robin play-offs before winning the competition outright. The 48-strong entry at the Willie Thorne Snooker Club in Leicester was split into eight groups of six, with only the top two qualifying for the knockout stages.
WITH four matches played, Gateshead Snooker Centre (15) are in the driving seat in the Newcastle and Gateshead League following a 5- 0 demolition job on Teams SC. Hot on their heels in second, and heading the rest of the field after registering the same winning scoreline over Bentinck SC, are defending champions Labour Club A. NORTHUMBERLAND Squash player Kimberley Hay emerged victorious at the North of England Junior Championships. The first silver-rated event of the season was held in Newcastle, where spectators were treated to a stunning display of intense competition.

A NEWCASTLE-BORN ice skater has taken first place at the first international judging competition of the season in Sheffield. David Richardson, 22, was only one of four men on Britain's performance team.

BADMINTON prospect Ira Banerjee will be representing England in the Super Series event in Denmark next month. It is a second big boost this season for the student from Newcastle's Dame Allans Girls School, who has been competing since 2006 at county level.

ROCKCLIFF Rugby Club's Under-16s stormed to a 43-12 victory at Lanchester, scoring seven tries in the process. Leading 24-0 at halftime Rockcliff faced a fightback from Lanchester who scored two tries and a conversion before Rockcliff went on to seal the win.

THE traditional curtain-raiser to the new badminton season produced a triple champion in Sarah Renton. Renton took the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles titles at the annual Northumberland Restricted Tournament at Newcastle's Benfield Centre.
Wasps Are Stung by a Superb Tn ; Basketball Latest
TEAM Northumbria ran out comfortable 93-42 winners against Hull Wasps in the opening round of the EBL Men's National Cup at Coach Lane. The game burst into life for TN as they scored the first 18 points, with Ian Berry and Chris Pearce leading the way.
NEWCASTLE Eagles racked up two wins over the weekend - but before they disposed of Chester Jets and the Scottish Rocks the team went back to school. The newly-built Walbottle Technology College christened its new two-court wood sports hall by inviting the Eagles to train before their first game of the new BBL season.
County Sevens Proves a Stroll for the Park!
PERCY Park Under-17s started this season as they finished the last by winning the Northumberland County Rugby Championship - but this time it was the sevens competition. In the tournament at Berwick Rugby Club, they won all their group matches defeating Morpeth (29-7), Tynedale (26-0) and Ponteland (26- 0). In the final they met Tynedale, who fielded their strongest team - but to no avail as Park dominated the game from the start.
HEDDON have struggled this term - and are still seeking a first win after losing 3-2 against Harraby Catholic Club. Harraby were given a sixth-minute lead when Jordan Coulthard's cross was headed on by Steve Archibald for Rob Bainbridge to poke the ball home.
Bowman Is Right On Target ; Durham Alliance League
HEBBURN Town Juniors entertained Hartlepool St Francis and ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. James Bowman claimed a superbly-taken hat-trick, one of which involved him in a run from 40 yards, shrugging off three tackles, before rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball into an empty net.
