ROWLANDS CA slumped to successive defeats when they lost out by a narrow six runs to Genetics. Jonny Bennett (54) topscored as Genetics reached 116-9 before Rowlands were restricted to 110-7 as Andy Goulding snapped up 3-26.

THE championship looks to rest between just four teams following the latest round of matches - which saw leaders Castle Eden held to a draw and second-placed Bill Quay humbled. IT IS not often two good potters meet head-to-head in the latter stages of a billiards event. However that was what happened at Chirton SC when Carville's Chris Dunbar and King St's Micky Baker clashed in the 250up final of the North Shields League's Billiards Championship. With both players relying mostly on their on their potting ability to score, it was soon obvious there were going to be no big breaks.
Shevill's Round Not Par for the Course
PRUDHOE'S Daniel Shevill continued his run of good form with a storming finish at Alnmouth Golf Club in the Fenwick Smith Trophy. In the first round, the 20year-old shot a steady 74 which left him in 13th place.
Anne On the Up After Singles Win
CLUBMATES Anne Upsall and Mavis Reay (South Shields West End) vied for the Northern Women's Bowling Association's TwoBowl Sunshine Singles title - with former winner Upsall claiming a 15-190 victory. All rounds were played to 15-up in the second of the association's season of charity competitions.
